League of Liam

Our Story

Our sweet angel, Liam, is 5 years old!  Liam was born with Down syndrome, and little did we know before he was born what a blessing it is to have a child with special needs in our home.  He was born with cataracts, so at 2 months old the removed his lenses and he wore contacts for about a year and now wears glasses.  He wears his glasses really good.  He's had a hole in his heart (ASD) that was repaired last June and he has done amazing!  He's a very active, busy little boy.  Liam is the happiest little boy who loves Curious George, Boss Baby, cars, swings, the bus and his siblings.

Liam is in preschool at Deerfield Elementry and loves to go, mostly because the bus picks him and takes him to and from school. He is learning how to talk pretty good and has finally started liking to color.

We are so grateful for the United Angels Foundation in our life.  When we first got the diagnosis, it was such a great group to connect me to some of my closest friends who understand what it is like to raise a child with special needs. Both the joys and the hard parts.  It's also been wonderful for my other children because through the donations at this walk, they are able to provide activities for our whole family to enjoy doing together. And now that Liam is entering the education world, I have loved the seminars and conferences UAF puts together to help me be better educated and be a better advocate for Liam.  Thank you United Angels!

About The United Angels Foundation

United Angels Foundation (UAF) is a nonprofit, parent-to-parent support group for families of children with special needs (our Angels). UAF believes that the most effective way to support these children is by supporting the parents and guardians who are raising them. Our main goals at UAF are to provide interaction, education, and resources to our parents. We implement these goals through our newborn visits and packets, online chat forums, parent educational seminars, parent lunches, "Mom's Night Out", and youth and family activities. Funds raised from the Walk with Angels event will specifically go towards financing our educational seminars, activities (including Freedom at the Pool, Hee Haws, and our annual Christmas party, as well as age-related activities), and to administer our newborn and new member program. Please join us in advocating for all the angels in our community!
